Hi, I’m Chad! I’m an experienced leader, digital marketing strategist, public speaker, & author living in Charleston, SC.
In April of 2012, I joined SPARC as a director of marketing – we’re launching some amazing products, so be sure to go check them out! Prior to SPARC, I spent 14 years at Blackbaud working with nonprofits from around the world. I’ve partnered with organizations like NTEN and TechSoup Global on educational events, and helped local nonprofits like Fields to Families, Coastal Community Foundation, The Charleston Symphony, South Carolina Aquarium, Lowcountry Children’s Museum, and Charleston Collegiate meet their missions. I’ve also started a nonprofit dedicated to helping local Charleston residents lead more sustainable lives.
My job involves some speaking engagements, and has taken me to places like Vancouver, San Francisco, Montreal, Portland, and Ottawa. Here’s the official bio I use when when out gigging:
Chad Norman is a digital marketing strategist, interactive designer, speaker, and author. As the Director of Marketing at SPARC, he is responsible for corporate and product marketing, social media, public relations, events, branding, messaging, and dart throwing. Through his previous work at Blackbaud, Chad helped nonprofits from around the world meet their missions. In 2007, he founded Go Green Charleston, a technology-focused nonprofit helping Charleston-area residents connect, stay informed, and mobilize around the local sustainability community. Chad also serves on the board of directors of Fields to Families managing web & social strategy. His book, 101 Social Media Tactics for Nonprofits: A Field Guide, was published by Wiley in February 2012. You can follow him on Twitter @chadnorman.
When I’m not doing all that stuff, you’ll probably find me hanging out with my wife and kids. There is nothing I like doing more than playing, hiking, biking, skating, surfing, swimming, laughing and all that good stuff with my family. I do some freelance photography and consulting, play several instruments, skateboard, surf, play tennis, and generally dig the outdoors. Other oddities: I’m a vegetarian, half my family is Amish, and I received my degree in Religious Studies and Psychology from Indiana University.
OK, that’s entirely too much information, but thanks for sticking with me!
